History

In 1993, Naum Reznik the professor of mechanical engineering found Association of Scientists and Engineers. He had a strong desire to carry on Russian traditions of literacy. He charged an idea to plan a public library in the city of West Hollywood. Future patrons could find a little bit of everything in a library, from Leo Tolstoy to Danielle Steel.

Chabad Russian Synagogue gladly offered a space, where Naum Reznik and his colleagues started accepting their first donation and cataloging books. The new library was staffed by 15 volunteers and was opened five days a week.

In 2011, the library relocated from Plummer park to its new permanent address 7362 Santa Monica Blvd. Unfirtunately, the library was on the verge of vague faith.

In 2017, a new team of volunteers was introduced to the library who decided to support purpose of dissolved Association of Scientist and Engineers. New management incorporated the library with great tasks before them - to rebuild and to praise organization.

In 2018, the Library received status of public nonprofit organization in the State of California and officialy became Russian Language Public Library in December of that year.

Today the library is different, it has organized collection of books and support from the City of West Hollywood. It continues to offer its patrons the services that started back in 1993 with hopes to offer new innovative services in the 21st century.
