Library cards

California residents at least 18 years old may apply for library privileges by showing a valid California driver’s license containing current mailing address for the individual’s residence. Library employee will enter and save boroower information in the databse. No physical card will be provided and no replacement fees for the card exist.

Shut-ins, people with disabilities

Person whith disabilities who unable to visit the library due to his/hers physical condition can checkout materials as a regular patron and with no fine assesment.

Damaged library material

Material must be returned in the same condition as when it was checked out. Borrowers may not write in books, turn down page corners, or use “post-it”-type notes/flags. A fine may be issued for material returned with this type of damage. Borrowers who notice damage before checking out material should inform a clerk at Circulation desk, who will note the damage and flag the material for repair upon return. Borrowers are financially responsible for material that is lost, damaged or stolen while it is checked out to them.

Checking out library material

Each time a borrower wishes to check out material, he/she must be a registered library patron. Library card is required to check out library material or state ID can be used if the card is not available at the time of chek out. Library patrons may have no more than 25 items checked out at one time. Check out is allowed for a spesific assigned period of time.

Returning material back to the library

All materials taken by the bororwer must be return to the library Circulation desk for registering in.

Renewals

Renewal is a responsability of the library patron. Borrowers may renew, extend the due date of the eligible material up to three times by calling Circulation desk at (323) 978-7346 in order to avoid a late fee.

Overdue fines and library material replacement

Library patron is solely responsable for overdue fines and replacement bills. Checked out library material will become overdue and accumulate a fine if not returned or renewed on time. If the library material is damaged to the extent that it cannot be used anymore in the library collection, the patron is obligated to recover the item cost plus a processing fee $15.00. Patron services notices

Notices about library materials when patron's material is due are sent to email addresse of patron. Library members must assure that email from RLPL is not diverted to a spam or junk folders.
