• Library today

  Russian Public Library Services were dedicated to empower ways to improve the lives of many Angelenos who speak Russian language.

  Today, we have a way to reach our goals to provide innovative, scalable library technology and services; staff training and best practices; access to grants to create equity in library experience for patrons no matter where they live. We work with elected officials to ensure they understand the critical role that libraries play in meeting the immediate and long-term needs of citizens.

  Mission: Empowering Library to satisfy educational goals of Angelinos.

  1. Serve as trusted advisors to the library community.
  2. Provide expertise and educational opportunities needed to ensure that this public library can provide optimal service.
  3. Create accessible electronic database of library materials for the public.
  4. Start new borrower services and priviliges starting June 1st, 2020.
  5. Start Friends fellowship as a new support wave for the library.
  6. Develop a supportive Fridends community for the Russian Langugage Public Library.
  7. Provide free learning classes for the community.
  8. Reinforce the library's role in supporting education at every level, from early literacy to workforce development and the support of lifelong learning.
  9. Provide leadership that facilitates and promotes excellence in library administration and in the professional expertise of librarians and other staff.
  10. Provide professional consulting services to the public, staff, trustees and Friends of the library.
  11. Provide leadership training to ensure the success of the next generation of public library administrators.
  12. Maintain the highest standards in the oversight, utilization and accountability in the distribution of state and federal library funds.
  13. Foster financial stability for public libraries by maximizing public, political and financial support for the services they provide.
  14. Communicate and advocate with funding partners at local, state and national levels to ensure adequate resources are available for public library services.
  15. Ensure equal access to information and technology.
  16. Ensure the equitable distribution of state public library grant funds and the effective utilization of federal library funds.
  17. Coordinate collaborative purchases to leverage available funding for the maximum benefit of all public libraries and library systems in the state.
  18. Encourage cooperative ventures and new thinking in resource sharing.
  19. Develop and manage partnerships with agencies to provide and support enhanced library programs and services.
• Book donation

  Donating your books to us

  If you have questions regarding books donation, please call the fron desk during business hours at (323) 978-7346 or send us a message. We are welcoming appropriate published materials. Here is acceptable donation guidelines.

  Donations are accepted at the library

  We gladly accept books and other items:

  • Children’s books
  • CDs, and DVDs
  • Large print books
  • Music on CDs
  • Audio books on CDs
  Blu-ray
  • Vinyl records (LPs, 78s, 45s)
  • Puzzles and games.

  We accept gift books with the proviso that the library is free to decide whether to keep the book in the library's collection, put it in a book sale to raise funds for the library, or discard it. By law, we cannot assign a dollar amount to your donation, though we may give you a receipt with an item count. Donations may be tax deductible on your Federal or state tax return, but it is the donor's responsibility to assess the value (or seek a professional appraisal); consult your tax advisor.

  General Guidelines for Donations

  Rule of thumb: If you wouldn’t buy your book or give it to a friend, we probably won't accept it either.

  Condition matters. We care about reader's well being as well as its health. If your items have any of the following issues, they usually won’t be accepted:

  • Dirt
  • Mold
  • Burnt
  • Water damaged
  • Damaged binding or pages
  • Missing covers or pages
  • Excessive writing, markings, or highlighting
  • Cut out library treatments

  In addition, we will not accept newspapers, magazines, encyclopedias, workbooks and study guides, non-commercially produced media, or textbooks or professional materials more than 5 years old.

  Once again, please contact us before making a trip to the library to find out if the library can accept your book gift donation.

  Please fill out Book Donation form, print 2 copies, and bring them to the library with your donation materials.
